Hyden, Western Australia Australia
💫 "Where the songlines come alive in the heart of the Australian Outback, lies the mystical town of Hyden, Western Australia" – exploring Hyden is a cinematic experience, as the rust-hued landscape sets the tone for a adventure-filled odyssey. 🏞️ This quiet country town is nestled amidst the wheat fields of Western Australia and is famous for its 100km-long Yellow Finches Trail, which offers strolls, bike rides, and four-wheel-drive excursions through ancient Woodlands and Spinifex grasslands. Witness the stunning Eclipse Rock, an anomalous rock formation resembling a stylized Australian Aboriginal design.

What an amazing sight - just in the middle of the outback, a giant wave has reared its head and it is truly awe inspiring. To be able to walk around it and even over it was just WOW!

Drove for what felt like days - not seeing another car for sometimes hours and at the end of it, in the middle of nowhere was Hyden - a gorgeous little town and a bit further out was Wave Rock Resort. Key collection is from the shop across the road and then you drive to the resort through what feels like swampy outback to reach these lovely little bungalows on the lake edge. Stunning properties with everything needed including an outdoor, under cover BBQ area. We took advice from other reviewers and stocked up on food, as there is nothing at the resort but that is the beauty of it. We felt like we were totally on our own - no noise, just us and nature. We didn’t take a dip in the salt pool as weather a bit chilly but it looked amazing. Fab place to stay and being able to walk to Wave Rock was a bonus.

Would recommend anyone to travel to Wave Rock near Hyden in WA. The Hyden Hotel has great food and not too expensive. The rooms look a bit dated but clean. I would avoid the local Bakery in Hyden, not good value for breakfast and a bit cluttered.

We had a one night stay in a 2 bedroom cabin, kitchen was well appointed, and room was comfortable , walking distance to Wave Rock and your entry fee to the caves hippos yawn and wave rock is included while you are staying here , you are also offered a 4 cent a litre discount on fuel at the Liberty Petrol station , Don’t fall for that , there is a self service BP petrol station just a little further up that was 16 cents cheaper per litre ( after the 4 cent discount is applied )

After living in Perth my whole life I decided to make my first trip to Wave Rock and had my family with me. The Rock, nearby trails, Caravan Park, Hippo Yawn and The Humps were all great for the family. Decided to have a look at the Cafe', Lace Place and Miniature Soldier Museum. Found all of them to be uninviting for a family. I didn't want to pay the $6 admission for an adult to go into the Lace Place or Miniature Soldier Musuem. I found the entire building complex odd and not complimentary of the unique/amazing natural attractions in the area.
